The Bio-Separator
On-site sewerage digester (more than a septic tank). The semi-treated water is safe to be released into the environment without risk of soil or ground water contamination. The Bio-Separator was tested and is supported by the Water Research Commission of South Africa.

Installation:
Excavate hole with dimensions Length 1330mm, Width 720mm, Height 1500mm. Depending on ground conditions, prepare base, and place empty tank in position. Backfill hole, connect inlet to toilet, connect outlet to soak away inlet. Flush.
- Site Identification:
- Ensure correct location as per client requirement.
- Determine lay-out of installation.
- Excavations and installation of Bio-Separator:
- Mark position of hole for Bio-Separator
- Excavate hole to size 1600mm long x 900mm wide x 1450mm deep.
- Level floor of hole and ensure no sharp objects that can damage the bio-separator tank.
- Place bio-separator in hole and close with dry-mix up to ¾ level.
- Construct Soak Away:
- Mark position of soak away - minimum 2 meters away from bio-separator.
- Excavate hole to size 1500mm long x 1 500mm wide x 1000mm deep.
- Dig trench for pipe from Bio-Separator outlet to Soak-away pit.
- Fill Soak-away hole up to 600mm with 19mm stone and place Soak-away dome.
- Install overflow pipe from bio-separator to Soak-away hole into soak away dome.
- Cover with bidim.
- Backfill soak away hole and trench with ordinary soil. (soil from excavation can be used)
- Complete backfill of Bio-Separator hole with dry-mix.
- Installation of Top Structure:
- Level and compact area for top structure
- Erect top structure.
- Fit toilet bowl in top structure and connect outlet to Bio-Separator.
- Fit Rapid Flush Cistern /Handwash tank in top structure and connect J-pipe to toilet bowl.
- Connect water source to Rapid Flush Cistern /Handwash tank.
- Unit ready for use.
